Fireside Chat with Andrew Lacy | 6pm to 8pm
The inspirationally disruptive Andrew Lacy is our guest this month. "Disruption excites me - it creates opportunities to delight customers, to grow new markets and to build innovative businesses that didn't exist before."
Andrew co-founded Tapulous, one of the earliest, big mobile games makers for the iPhone even before Steve Jobs announced that he would open the platform. Disney recognized and acquired the hugely successful Tapulous in 2010, and Andrew went on to run Disney's mobile studios and help them adapt to a freemium gaming world. In 2013, Andrew moved to Europe and founded Zaptravel, a disruptive personalization travel meta-search business that was doing voice search and chat-bots before that was even a thing. Zaptravel sold to Lebara in 2015 where, as Chief Product Officer, Andrew launched a migrant Netflix-like service and money transfer for global migrants. Andrew's latest passion is genomics and a new business he recently founded, Basegenes, that brought him back to the Silicon Valley.
While Andrew has Law and Commerce degrees from University of Melbourne and an MBA from Stanford University, he goes where the biggest problem is to be solved - so is just as likely to be heads down in the code as he is working on the business side of things.
